| Intro to Zen |
| Introduction to Zen Training Course:
A six-week program is offered to provide an overview of the Zen training
practiced at Zenshinkan Dojo. Participants will gain formal instruction
in the breathing and posture of zazen as well as gaining a historical
context from which this training emerged over the past 2,500 years. Participants
will also gain experience and instruction in shodo (Zen calligraphy) and
okyo (Zen chanting) as well as other breathing exercises that will support
the participant in becoming centered and focused in the present moment.
Lastly, the application of Zen training in one’s daily life will
be emphasized throughout the six weeks. Once the participant completes
the six-week program they can implement their new skills and knowledge
