We will hold a Summer Zazenkai (short Zen retreat) on Sunday, July 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This event will be held in partnership with Rhode Island Zen Dojo.

We encourage you to join us to deepen the meditation practice that has always been an integral part of our dojo’s tradition. Periods of intensive training sharpen our awareness, soften our hearts, and open our energy.

This training is free and open to all. Please register so we can plan enough cushions and food.

Join us on Saturday, July 18, for a special Memorial Training. This is a tradition of intensive practice done in a spirit of gratitude to our community and teachers.

This year, we will come together not only to honor our teachers, Ed Haupt Sensei and Fumio Toyoda Shihan, but also to acknowledge the transition our dojo has made in this year since the fire.

Schedule

10:00 a.m. – Memorial Service
Led by Joe Kizan Pitelli Sensei, an ordained Zen priest in the Chosei Zen lineage. Pitelli Sensei will conduct a Rinzai Zen memorial and dedication service.

The ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Please arrive early and be on the mat a few minutes before the service begins.

10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Aikido Training
